digiyatra SITA Launches Smart Path Technology

SITA has introduced innovative technology that incorporates Smart Path, Passenger Flow Management (PFM), and Face Pods, allowing passengers to navigate airport checkpoints using facial recognition rather than conventional boarding passes. This contactless solution aims to significantly decrease waiting times and enhance the overall travel experience.

The DigiYatra initiative was initiated at Visakhapatnam Airport and is being rolled out at airports in cities such as Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Indore, and Goa. Plans are in place to extend the program to 28 airports, catering to 90% of domestic travelers. In 2023, more than 20 million passengers utilized the DigiYatra platform.

The partnership between SITA and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is part of a broader strategy to digitize India’s airports. Sumesh Patel, President of APAC at SITA, highlighted that this technology will enhance airport infrastructure as the aviation sector in India continues to expand. The collaboration aims to improve operational efficiency in response to the growing demand for air travel across the nation.

SITA’s enduring partnership with the Indian government dates back to 1952, and the company remains committed to the “Make In India” initiative by upgrading its services to facilitate the modernization of India’s aviation infrastructure.
