Logistics Data Bank (LDB), an integral initiative by NICDC Logistics Data Services Ltd. (NLDSL), has reached a major milestone, successfully tracking over 75 million EXIM containers. This accomplishment highlights LDB’s growing influence in enhancing India’s logistics sector, providing improved visibility and valuable analytics to stakeholders.
Acknowledgement of Achievement
Shri Rajat Kumar Saini, CEO & MD of NICDC and Chairman of NLDSL, expressed pride in this accomplishment, noting, “This is a significant achievement for NLDSL and LDB. Tracking 75 million containers is a testament to the expanding impact of digitalization in India’s logistics industry. LDB has contributed immensely to improving the efficiency of the supply chain and supports India’s goal of becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse. Our dedication to the growth of the logistics sector remains steadfast.”
Role of LDB in the Logistics Ecosystem
LDB operates as a comprehensive, single-window platform that enables the tracking of containers based on their container numbers. It monitors containers between ports and their hinterlands, including locations such as Inland Container Depots (ICDs), Container Freight Stations (CFSs), parking plazas, toll plazas, railway stations, and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) during both EXIM and domestic operations.
Impact on India’s Logistics Performance
The World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI), which ranks countries on their logistics performance, has recognized LDB’s crucial role in enhancing India’s logistics sector. India’s LPI ranking improved from 44 in 2018 to 38 in 2023, showcasing the impact of LDB’s contributions to the nation’s improved logistics efficiency.
Widespread Adoption and Usage
LDB has garnered significant acceptance within the trade community, with over 45 lakh unique container searches conducted each month. This frequent usage emphasizes the system’s effectiveness and the value it offers to various logistics stakeholders. Stakeholders can access LDB’s tracking services through a user-friendly portal at www.ldb.co.in, streamlining the process of container tracking.
Analytics and Reporting
In addition to container tracking, LDB offers detailed analytics reports, providing insights into key metrics such as dwell time, transit time, and port performance. These analytics help stakeholders enhance overall logistics efficiency and decision-making.
LDB Operations Across India
Currently, the LDB project is operational across 30 terminals at 18 ports, covering 100% of India’s container traffic. It also encompasses 435+ Container Freight Stations (CFSs), Inland Container Depots (ICDs), Empty Yards (EYs), Parking Plazas (PPs), and around 183 toll plazas, along with industrial zones, Integrated Check Posts (ICPs), and SEZs.
